SCIENCE CITY 1550 –1800, SCIENCE MUSEUM, LONDON
This new permanent gallery, explores how science shaped London, and London shaped science, between 1550 and 1800. Over this period London transformed from modest commercial centre to powerful world city.
Covering over 650 square metres, the gallery design creates an abstract cityscape that immerses the visitor in a contemporary interpretation of historic London.
Working with designer Gitta Gschwendter, studio ZNA produced and streamlined elegant lighting solution. The same family of fittings was used in varying scales to suit the task from overhead lighting to in case lighting micro spots.
Concealed lighting in “Misc en scene” story sets for key objects create strong visual narratives using shadow play and silouette.
